of all things pao and ang pao

since my daughter's a tad smaller in size than most babies her age, searching for a cheongsam (or any clothing other than the usual boring onesies) was a daunting task. after weeks of scouting for a suitable cny outfit for her, i gave up and went fabric shopping instead. first, i made me a ghastly red outfit. failed. she hated the ghastly red. then i made a black outfit. failed. who the hell wears black on cny?!? i eventually got to a gaudy blue fabric with embossed gold baroque-esque patterns on it, bought on impulse, obviously. just as i was about to make the third outfit a disaster, the papa came to the rescue by flipping the fabric over to its gorgeous lilac back. i managed to dig out a matching rich lilac fabric for the bodice of the dress in my pile of remnants. and tadah, the daughter is dressed for the ocassion!
