we the parents are serious DIYers. okay fine, not really, considering just two weeks ago we said we'd repaint the master bedroom but i only managed to do as much as my acrophobia allowed me to, and the papa was found playing fifa the entire time... we ended up calling a guy in to finish it up -_-'
while the toddler's had to endure midnight drillings of sorts, our hankering for some hammering has rubbed off on her. she's been trying to stack the cups on my her stacking toy for the past few days, and though no design element of her own has come about the activity, i'm pretty sure she stacked them with the efficiency and accuracy of an architect on chocolate. okay fine, she didn't really stack them herself; she hired me with the swagger of a finger. procrastinations aside, i can't wait to start on our own projects, and Built by Kids will definitely be a regular visit for those inspirational days.
the site is relatively new, so not much has been updated yet. still, its potential is apparent as it offers nothing but the simplest in old ideas reinvented. the founders aim to inspire and motivate imagination with projects made special for kids and parents alike. they also encourage submissions of personal creations - much like Burdastyle - with a segment on the site called Built by You.
it's no Martha, but BBKs has the ease and accessibility that a real home - without the disposable moolah spent on expensive experimental materials - needs. so yea, keep an eye out on Built by Kids. Though it may not boom to epic proportions, it will, at the very least, formulate enough boom to knock your socks off and into a hand puppet.
