the gender-confused pediatrician informed us that we had to leave the daughter overnight for jaundice treatment. our hearts broke and we were sobbing like hopeless mofos at the mere thought of being any distance apart from our beloved bundle of joy. however, we were too broke to afford ourselves a room, so we paid for her RM900 a night treatment, left the hospital in utter anguish, and drove back fifteen minutes later after we concocted our ingenious plan to just sleep in rotation between the lobby and our car. yes, we were that desperate.
seeing us in such a pathetic state, loitering right outside the window to the nursery with sad dog eyes and whimpering gibberish, the nurses decided to discharge her earlier than intended, with the promise that we would suntan her at home in natural light every morning.
they also came up with a rule that no parents were allowed to loiter outside the window of the nursery henceforth. you're welcome, parents.
